Billionaires row, formally known as 'Bishops Avenue' is located in East Finchley, and is the UK's most expensive road to live on. It gained this grand name because of the number of wealthy residents who live there. The avenue is lined with incredibly grand mansions and estates, many of which are owned by foreign billionaires, members of royal families, and other wealthy individuals.
It is filled with mansion houses for approximately 3.2 miles, and has a worth of over £620 million; the road is home to royalty, industrial tycoons, and was once home to Justin Bieber. However, due to some of the properties being owned by royalty overseas, many of the mansions have been left to decay, and their owners have shown no sign of rehabilitating their properties or selling up even with each property being worth £15 million on average.
The Row's secret of the derelict mansions is rather undercover but the stories of them being uninhabited has come to light more recently in many news articles. Roughly £350 million worth of land has been left untouched… and I am going to be sharing with you a few of their dirtiest secrets!
Travel:
Travelling to the Bishops Avenue was rather easy, getting to this location from my base point takes roughly an hour and a half on public transport. REMEMBER as bad as tfl is, it is your best friend when exploring the city.
I took a southeastern line train from Dartford station to London Bridge via Sidcup
- this is a nine stop ride and it took approximately thirty seven minutes.
Once off that train my next destination was the Northern Line at London Bridge underground where I hopped on a tube towards Mill Hill East and got off at East Finchley- taking me approximately another twenty five minutes.
From there using google maps I walked to the renowned row, which will take you between five and ten minutes. I then went off on my adventure down the incredibly pompous row before finding the house I had been looking for.
This is a really quick and easy journey in reality and won’t cost you an absolute arm an a leg. It is within the oyster zones meaning you can tap that or purchase tickets online, or at each station you visit.
I 100% recommend wearing a good pair of shoes and weather appropriate clothing for this journey (I made the mistake of wearing my Doc Martens and have been left with several blisters).

This Location I only ended up visiting briefly due to a few different circumstances which I am rather disappointed with. Once we got off the trains we took a 15 minute walk to the very top end of the avenue before finding the house, it was a long steep trek up the hill and on the way we saw several of the other abandoned mansions being knocked down and rebuilt- which was rather sad to see as there are other houses other than the one we went to that I wanted to explore.
The house was blocked off with boarding, however the bottom of it was on a hinge so we were able to slide it upwards and roll underneath it. Again, when attempting to get into the location I found a group of young teens trying to get into the building and causing a stir because they were frightened the surrounding construction workers would call the police. I asked them nicely to move out of the way as I wanted to go under the fence- so I took my camera and left my bag with my friend on the other side and took the chance.
The teens followed me under the fence and began to do a circuit around the house with me, but were screaming and shouting the whole time. I managed to leave them behind and get around the back of the house to do a quick, and rough walk around video. They heard ambulance sirens come hurtling down the road and mistook it for police and began to leg it back towards the fence, once again screaming, by this point I had just about made it around the side of the house. I had to leave the area to be safe when they started running and shouting just incase they had caused any issues that could have gotten me into trouble.
I do plan to go back in the future to explore some more, but for now I only have a very rough video and a few pictures.
The house was absolutely stunning, and I really cannot wait to return to film a proper vlog for it- the singular rough video I managed to get does not do it justice in any way, shape, or form and I didn't even get enough time to soak up the surroundings myself.
